"Where Have All The Outlaws Gone"

1.  Where Have All The Outlaws Gone - 3:57

     (Cliff Hagen, Johnny Holm)

Where have all the outlaws gone?  Is the good Lord calling them all back home?

Well, I don't know but I've been told that Waylon had a hell of a soul.  Yeah!

Willie got into a mess.  He was busted by the IRS.  Austin City Limits (is) what I choose

When I need to hear the London Homesick Blues.

I've been searching for a rainbow on my FM radio

But it's sad to say they just don't play much David Allen Coe.

And I can only take that stuff they play for just so long

Until I've got to go and hear an ol' Bocephus song.

Yeah where have all the outlaws gone!

I'd walk the line to hell and back, just to hear The Man in Black.

Johnny Paycheck's in the grave.  He was the only hell his mamma raised.

When you listen to the radio they're hardly ever played.

Is that because they never change their rough and rowdy ways?

Marshall Tucker singing, "woman can't you see," and Merle said "don't you dare get on the fighting side of me."

Yeah where have all the outlaws gone!

I said where have all the outlaws gone!

Well, they've made some awful choices when it's come to No Show Jones

But they couldn't kill the Possum no old George he just stayed home.

The Devil's down in Georgia with Shaver on a train and People and Their Problems can drive a man insane

Yeah where have all the outlaws gone!

I've been searching for a rainbow on my FM radio

But it's sad to say they just don't play much David Allen Coe.

Marshall Tucker singing, "woman can't you see,"

And Johnny Cash don't Hurt no more, his soul has been set free.

Yeah where have all the outlaws gone!

Where have all the outlaws gone!

2.  Good For You (Bad For Me) - 3:25

     (Cliff Hagen, Dave Anderson)

Well, I couldn't be any bluer even if I held my breath, but I loved you enough to let you go.

I've put the past behind me and I'm trying to do my best

But now you feel there's something I should know.

You say your new love is like a drink of water.  I was your man first, but he's the one to quench your thirst

And you think you've found everything that I could never be.  Good for you!  Bad for me.

Well, it's true that I miss your smile and he's one lucky man, cuz he can live my every fantasy.

While I hold on to your picture, he holds the real thing in his hands.

And that's good for you, but it ain't good for me.

You say your new love is like a drink of water.  I was your man first, but he's the one to quench your thirst

And you think you've found everything that I could never be.  Good for you!  Bad for me.

Well, I saw your brand new lover at the church.  He looks unhappy , so I asked why he seemed hurt.

He said, "You're lucky that you left before she went and lost her mind.

Now, I wish that I was you because you got out just in time.

And she's found a brand new love that's like a drink of water.  We've seen her at her worst

And no one could ever quench that thirst.  At least you had the best of her before she got to me.

Good for you!  Bad for me.

Good for you!  Bad for me."

3.  A Strange Thing To Do - 3:34

     (Cliff Hagen)

CHORUS:  If you're ever gonna love me girl, you'd better start tonight,

Or I'll be leaving in the morning with the ol' sunrise.

You've been treating me like a stranger and that's a strange thing to do.

I want you woman, but I want you to want me too.

I got a woman, lives on down the line.  Me and her used to get along just fine.

But lately she's been treating me bad and I just want the love we had.

I got a woman, lives on down the line.  And...

CHORUS

I'm standing here with a full moon on my back, wondering if there's something that I lack.

But I'm a man you could be proud of.  I don't ask much I just want your love.

I'm standing here with a full moon on my back.  And...

CHORUS

Well, what's been making you act this way?  You used to love me night and day!

Well, I've done all I can for your, and all you've done is made me blue!  But...

CHORUS (2 Times)

4.  Me and Misery - 4:19

     (Cliff Hagen, Leland Harding III)

I can hear the echo of your whispers faintly in the dark.

But I assume it's just my imagination playing tricks upon my heart.

I remember that July day when my world fell apart.

When you took my ring off your finger, you tore up my heart.

CHORUS:  And now it's me, me and misery.  If you need company, just give us a call.

And I'll be here with a beer in my hand and a teardrop in my eye.

But it's nothing new to me.  It's just me and misery.

It's been hard the past three years since you've been gone.

And I try to put you out of my mind, but the pain hangs on.

Because the only thing I've ever needed in my life is gone.

And the ring you took off your finger is why I sing this song.

CHORUS

Yeah, it's nothing new to me.  It's just me and misery.

5.  Sloppin' The Hogs (Baby, I Think of You) - 3:17

     (Cliff Hagen, Matt Reese)

Well, this morning I woke up and I put on my overshoes.

And I headed out to the barn to great the new day.

I saw my old cow and my dog, but my favorite thing is the hogs.

Cuz when I see them I think of you in a real sweet way.

Their little curly tails remind me of your hair.  And the way they squeal at their breakfast meal

Well, I don't miss you cuz I'd swear you were there.

Well, I love you.  I can't forget you.  That's why I wrote this song.

You know, baby, I think of you when I'm sloppin' the hogs.  Ah, let's get dirty now!

On the day you went away, I had to bury my head in the hay.

Hey but when chore time came, it wasn't so hard, cuz you were right with me in the slop yard.

Well, you left me for another, but I don't seem to care.

Cuz when I'm with my hogs, it's just like having you there!

Their litty curly tails remind me of your hair.  And the way they squeal at their breakfast meal

Well, I don't miss you cuz I'd swear you were there.

Well, you'll always be my piglet, even though I played your dog.

You know, baby, I think of you when I'm sloppin' the hogs.

Ah, baby, it's true.  I think of you when I'm sloppin' the hogs.  Yeah!

Ah, honey, I love your little pushed up nose!

6.  The Day After - 3:28

     (Cliff Hagen)

I spent last night like there was no tomorrow

Doing things that I can't tell, especially not to her.

For only sorrow would occur when I walk through that door because

Today is the day after what I did the night before.

It seems a man like me should have known better

But doing bad seems better when you know you might get caught.

I never gave one second thought to who I do adore, and now

Today is the day after what I did the night before.

She knows I'd never hock my wedding band to buy myself a drink

But if she knew what I did do she'd be gone before I blinked.

Now, I know you smell trouble.  Well, it's all that and more because

Today is the day after what I did the night before.

Well, it's true I had a good time it's one night I won't forget

But the best time that I ever had could be my worst regret.

Cuz I know she'll be waiting when I come through that door because

Today is the day after what I did the night before.

She knows I'd never hock my wedding band to buy myself a drink

But if she knew what I did do she'd be gone before I blinked.

So I think I'll stay quiet, or I might hit the floor because

Today is the day after what I did the night before.

And I'll pay today, the day after what I did the night before.

7.  Baby I Love You - 3:20

     (Ronnie Shannon)

If you want my lovin' if you really do

Well, don't be afraid, baby.  Just ask me

You know I'm gonna give it to you.

Oh, and I do declare, I want to see you with it.

Stretch out your arms little girl you're gonna get it.

Cuz I love you.  There ain't no doubt about it, baby, I love you.

I love you!  I love you!  I love you!  I love you!  Baby, I love you!

If you feel you wanna kiss me

Well go right ahead, I don't mind.

All you got to do is snap your fingers, and I'll come running' I ain't lying'!

Oh, what you want?  Little girl you know you got it.

I'd deny my own self before I'd see you without it.

Cuz I love you.  There ain't no doubt about it, baby, I love you.

I love you!  I love you!  I love you!  I love you!  Baby, I love you!

Some day you might want to run away and leave me sittin' here to cry.

But if it's all the same to you, baby, I'm gonna stop you from sayin' goodbye!

Baby, I love you!  Baby, I need you!  Baby, I want you!  I got to have you, baby.

Don't let your girlfriends tell you I don't want you.

Don't let your neighbors tell you I don't need you.  Oh, I love you!

8.  So What - 3:15

     (Cliff Hagen)

We had a good love for so long.  It seemed so right, but it was wrong.

The way you did me, honey, sure could make a man feel bad

Especially since it seems that we've lost everything we ever had.  But...

CHORUS:  So what?  Why do you think I care?

And who do you think you are, to tear our tangled hearts apart?

But so what?  It ain't no big deal.  How did you think I'd feel?

Now that you're gone and I'm alone, so what?

You took my heart and threw it down for some new guy in some new town.

You mentioned that I haven't asked you things like where and when.

And if you're wondering why I don't, well let me tell you this, girlfriend

CHORUS

And where do you get off by saying he's the bigger man?

And who do you think you're fooling when you say he does more for you than I can?  But...

CHORUS

9.  Would Jesus Work For Amway - 3:41

(Cliff Hagen, Johnny Holm, Pam Holm)

He was smiling shaking hands, he knew it was his time to win.

When he knocked upon my front door I thought, "Should I let him in?"

He said, "I want to help you.  You can jump on board our team."

He said, " I have the vehicle.  Just tell me, what's your dream?"

Well, he sounded so convincing.  There was truth in what he said

When he stated, "We're together.  Do you want butter on your bread?"

Well, I couldn't help but wonder if what he said was true.

And I had to stop and ponder, so now let me ask you...

CHORUS:  Would Jesus work for Amway?  Would He go direct or bust?

Would He tell you, you can do it!  If only you will trust in Him

And all these things you dream of can all be yours today!

Cuz there's a pyramid up to heaven if you'll distribute Amway.

So I stopped and started thinking about the rich man who was poor

And the poor who have great wealth, but do not ask for more.

If I knock, they say I shall receive just what I'm dreaming for.

But would Jesus work for Amway if they knocked upon His door?

CHORUS

Yeah, there's a pyramid up to heaven if you'll distribute Amway.

10.  The Fool In Love With You - 3:48

         (Cliff Hagen, Leland Harding III)

I saw you on the street today with some guy that I've never seen.

You looked so happy when you kissed him on the cheek.  In his arms you would never leave.

I was just passing by, my dinner break, I thought I'd catch you in time.

Well, I caught you in the arms of another man.  Now, I'm the fool in love with you.

CHORUS:  Yes I'm the fool, the fool in love with you.  And I'm the fool

The fool that said, "I do."  For better or for worse, worse is how I feel.

Now, I'm the fool in love with you.

She said she'd never leave me blue.  I wish those words she spoke were true.

Now, I lay here with a cold, cold heart, one that's broken and torn apart

in the back of a white Cadillac, now, I'm the fool in love with you.

CHORUS

For better or for worse, worse is how I feel.  Now, I'm the fool in love with you.

11.  Born On The Bayou - 4:40

         (John C. Fogerty)

Now, when I was just a little boy, standing to my daddy's knee

My pappa said, "Son, don't let the man getcha and do what he done to me.

Cuz he'll getcha!  Lord, he'll getcha right now."

And I can remember the 4th of July, running through the back woods bare.

And I can still hear my old hound dog barking, chasing, down a hoodoo there.

Chasing down a hoodoo there.

Born on the bayou.  Born on the bayou.  Born on the bayou, Lord.

I wish I was back on the bayou, rolling with some Cajun queen.

Wishing I was a fast freight train, just a chooglin' on down to New Orleans.

12.  I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With You - 2:46

         (Hank Williams)

Today I passed you on the street, and my heart fell at your feet

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.

Somebody else stood by your side, and you looked so satisfied.

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.

A picture from the past came slowly stealing

As I brushed your arm and walked so close to you.

Then suddenly I got that old time feeling.

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.

It's hard to know another's lips will kiss you

And hold you just the way I used to do .

Oh, heaven only knows how much I miss you.

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.

13.  How Mountain Girls Can Love - 1:54

         (Ralph Stanley, Carter Stanley)

CHORUS:  Get down boys, go back home, back to the girl you love.

Treat her right, never wrong.  How mountain girls can love!

Riding the night in the high cold wind on the trail of an old lonesome pine.

Thinking of you, feeling so blue, wondering why I left you behind.

CHORUS

Remember the night we strolled down the lane?  Our hearts were gay and happy then.

You whispered to me when I held you close.  We hoped that night would never end.

CHORUS (2 Times)
